Look up the ratio that the Movie "Contact" was filmed in. It's not 16:9.

Video source is 1920x800 probably, actual output and that image itself ( right click and "view image" ) is 1920x1080.

Got my card ordered... so excited! I've been so frustrated with the choppiness of the menus on my ATV, not even gonna mention the lack of HD. I can't wait!

Cool, thanks for that.

Anyone have a screenie of a full 1080p movie running?

Will this affect other things like the menu's etc? Or only movie playback?

The card won't change the choppiness of the menus. I suggest you try a reasonably simple skin, turn off auto rotating of backgrounds, and possibly turn off fanart to get the speed up. Loading of the images is fairly hard on the ATV, my guess is primarily due to RAM since it needs to remove the old image before throwing up the new one pretty much every time.

I've been using Transparency and Minimeedia with the aforementioned tweaks and it's very responsive.

MKV is a video container, not a video format. Crystal HD handled mpeg2, h.264 and vc1 video formats.

Hi, i never run out of the dumb questions.

But when these drivers are ready, will they just be included with a new patch stick?

I mean I'm on 2.4 and waiting for a patch stick to 3.0

When the drivers are ready how exactly do you get them on the ATV?

Also if I install the card when i get it, will the ATV still run XBMC on 2.4 without drivers?
Or am I better off waiting until the drivers are ready to install the card?

Thanks guys.

you can install the card without the drivers, it won't matter in any way. my card is installed right now in my atv, its simply ignored.

the other questions, are irrelevant until such time they are ready to announce something and then we will all know, but I assume it will be either an optional download listed on the launcher menu and/or you download and install via ssh and a script.

as for xbmc itself, I'm sure it will have the necessary code compiled in for all platforms and just need the applicable drivers and hardware and it will work automagically.
